Midwifery & Homebirth

Midwives are the guardians of normal, and midwife-attended homebirths are proven safe options for childbearing. Most healthy women do not need medications or technology to conceive, birth or nourish their babies.

At Wild Harmony Wellness we offer fertility support, pre-conception counseling, well-woman care, complete prenatal and homebirth services, and postpartum support including lactation consultation. We artfully combine the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other holistic modalities with the knowledge and experience of midwifery to offer you and your family individualized, attentive and optimal care as your family grows together.

Homebirth

I provide families with maternity services including homebirths with personalized prenatal, postpartum and newborn care. I am impassioned with supporting families in the birth experiences they want, surrounded by the people they choose in the settings they design. Women deserve to be fully informed about their choices in care so they can make decisions that will enhance their health and their lives. Babies are sentient, aware beings who thrive when birthed gently and are cared for lovingly. Childbirth is one of the most significant transitions we make as parents, and a gentle birth increases confidence, success and JOY in breastfeeding and parenting. The midwives at Wild Harmony possess unwavering faith that healthy women can safely birth their babies without medical intervention, drugs, mechanical devices or surgery.

Initial consultations are always free and allow me to meet with you and your family to discuss homebirth and whether we are a good fit for each other.  I encourage you to consult with other midwives, and I am happy to provide you the names and numbers of other families I have assisted so that you can discuss homebirth with them while you are in the decision-making process.

PLANNING A HOSPITAL BIRTH?

If you are committed to a hospital birth, you must work diligently for a non-interventive, peaceful experience, and you can benefit greatly from prenatal care with a homebirth midwife. Contact us to arrange a consultation to discuss the benefits a midwife can provide in concurrent care: you continue to see your physician and plan your hospital birth while also having comprehensive, supportive, lengthy prenatal visits in my office to help you plan the safest and healthiest birth possible in your chosen setting.

PRECONCEPTION COUNSELING

If you’re considering becoming pregnant, we offer preconception counseling services with comprehensive, lengthy options to discuss whatever your questions are. We can help with learning how to chart your cycles, interpreting your charts, nutritional counseling, emotional preparedness, reviewing a previous traumatic experience, how to know what supplements to take and any other questions you might have.

LACTATION SUPPORT SERVICES

Breastfeeding is the natural extension of healthy living and healthy birthing. Breastfeeding carries significant health and emotional benefits without the risks that formula feeding may impart. There exists an inexplicable special bond between a mother and her breastfeeding child. Breastfeeding difficulties are rare, but if you encounter uncertainty or problems nursing your baby, immediately call an experienced professional who is dedicated to breastfeeding as the superior way to nourish a child. You are welcome to call me for support or look for International Board Certified Lactation Consultants at The San Diego Breastfeeding Coalition https://www.breastfeeding.org, or you can call La Leche League (1.800.LALECHE), an organization devoted to the importance of breastfeeding, to find an experienced volunteer or free meeting in your area. I recommend La Leche League meetings to every pregnant and breastfeeding woman.

Prenatal visits are available to discuss preparation to nurse your baby; knowing what to expect can help to prevent problems. I am a lactation consultant previously IBCLC certified with the International Board of Certified Lactation Examiners. With over 30 years experience counseling nursing mothers and assisting with breastfeeding problems, I have significant experience working with premies, poor latch, painful breasts and babies with special needs.
